Superbowl 2013

I have many memories of elaborate Superbowl parties that my mom threw when I was in junior high and high school. It was absolutely unbelievable this year to be hosting a Superbowl party at our house in Bangladesh.Of course our party had to be at 5:30am so we could watch it live, but that's what we did! :)

The night before I made football cookies. We were running out of ever ingredient, so I didn't have enough white icing. As I was the only woman (unless you count Ellie) eating the cookies, though, no one noticed.

Franklin brought our stove into the living room from the kitchen and we had a pancake breakfast.

We used the projector to show the game on the wall.

Pretty cool, huh?

Fun in Homeschool

The assignment was to make a 3D object with clay. So, we used play doh to make what started out as just a simple tower, and what ended up being a castle. Ellie's has a moat and bridge. We had just read about castles in History.

While learning about old fashioned clothing the kids made these collars. Didn't turn out quite the way the ones in the book looked, but they had fun and got practice using scissors and folding.

The topic was learning about yeast and how dough rises. The assignment was to make some dull dough and force yourself to eat it, I think. We decided to do doughnuts. :) We still learned about yeast. And I was thrilled to hear the kids say to each other, "This is the best day of school ever." :)

Cutting Foam Paper

Franklin took Abraham out for a bike ride. It was my chance to cut out all the clock parts for the preschool English class I was teaching the next day. Ellie was thrilled to get to cut the scraps.

It's hard work cutting scraps. :)

And I got my pile of clock parts all cut out.

A Family Walk

I love the rare times when all of us can go on a walk together. LOVE IT! I stand behind the three people I love so much and watch them interact, taking pictures because I don't want to forget these wonderful moments. Then Franklin turns around and tells me to put the camera away... :)

This particular walk was shortly after Bangladesh's Victory Day, so Ellie decided to carry her Bangladesh flag. She happily waved it as she chatted with her Daddy.

It didn't matter at all to her that it was broken. :)

Pinterest Party

I really like Pinterest. There are tons of great ideas on it. One idea I really liked was having a pinterest party with all your friends to do some of the crafts or try some of the recipes that you have pinned on pinterest. Unfortunately I don't have friends around here who pin on pinterest... so in December, Ellie and I had a pinterest party. We did a couple of the crafts I had pinned. We made snowflakes out of coffee filters and we threaded pom poms to make decorations for her room.
