"Simple" Painted Handprints

So I really thought it would be simple. How hard could it possibly be to take a usually happy 9 month old baby's hand, dip it in paint and push it onto paper a few times? It shouldn't be too bad, unless the baby decides that she likes to close her hand to feel the paint squish around, or if the baby decides to scratch her head and ear while it's covered in red paint, or if the baby decides to rub paint on her cloth diaper and her mom's many layers of clothing....
From the above picture you would have thought we had been in some kind of accident... nope, just red paint...
And the fruit of our labor... just a few nice ones, but a bunch of prints missing fingers or thumbs...
I have decided not to do this again for a long time... I will leave this up to the professionals... since I am an elementary school teacher (that seems pretty professional...) I guess that means those gifted in early (earlier) childhood education.

Oh that's funny, Lorina! I hope it was washable paint!
