Food

With such a big family, meals can take quite a bit of time to get together... one time when a bunch of us were getting together, we made tortillas for tacos and had pineapple upside down cake.

The night before we left, we had a HUGE feast... look at how much rice we needed! We also had fish, a couple types of chicken, fruit, sweet potatoes, kasava, cabbage, pineapple upside down cake, and cupcakes. It was just as much fun spending time with everyone getting everything ready as it was eating it together.

Lorina's Hair Salon...

I loved playing with Franklin's family's hair. The texture of their hair is perfect for braiding.
Nena's hair (Franklin's mom) was too short to braid, but she still let me mess around with it. :)

Eliana thinks my work is pretty impressive... she's excited to have hair that's long enough for me to braid.

Eliana loves her Koko'okini (Grandmother)

Eliana LOVED spending time with her Koko'o. She slept on her, she played with her, she was fed by her, she was bathed with her, she sang with her, but most of all, she was loved by her! Now she misses her Koko'okini.

A future musician?

Eliana learned many valuable lessons in the Solomons... one of which was how to play a ukelele.
